Prices reflect discounts made possible through substantial funding from the OSVPR to encourage the use of ICDS services for University-sponsored research.
Prices are valid only for Penn State users and are subject to change. NOTE: The prices listed here reflect the most common (NSF) F&A charges, where applicable. In cases where F&A is applied at a lower rate your overall pricing will be lower. This document is intended for estimating purposes only.
Allocation Pricing
An Allocation offers users unlimited and immediate access to a set of resources for six or more months. The monthly cost of an Allocation depends on the resources being reserved. For example, an allocation of 20 Basic Memory cores and 10 High Memory cores:
[20 X ($1.81 /Month)] + [10 X ($5.86/Month) = $75.70/month
Using Credits- Pay per Use Pricing
Users may purchase Credits to “spend” running individual jobs. The number of Credits needed (and thus the cost) to run a single job depends on the resources requested and the job’s runtime. (Pricing is pro-rated down to the second of runtime and any associated processing time.) For example, a job requesting 10 Basic cores that runs for 5 days:

“Per day” pricing is offered here to give users an idea of the relative cost of running a particular job using Credits.

Roar Collab is not to be used with restricted (Level-3 or Level- 4) data.

Consultations and Special Services
ICDS also offers special services such as RISE or CIE consultations, science gateways, or hosted compute. Pricing varies according to the duration and complexity of the engagement. Contact us at icds@psu.edu to discuss your needs and pricing.
Payment Details
All purchases of ICDS services and resources are made through iLAB.
If payment for Reserve Allocations and consultation and other special services are drawn and invoiced monthly, users must maintain a balance sufficient to cover these charges to avoid an interruption in service.
Users may purchase additional credit for “Pay per Use” at any time. Available credit balances are available via the Slurm resource manager.
Base rates for compute and storage products differ for internally versus externally funded projects, but are equivalent when applicable F&A charges are added. This list is intended to help users estimate their total costs; iLAB invoicing will reflect the distribution in final price attributed to the base rate and F&A.
